ok so im grinding thru the 7 & its a lot more bearable with the upgrade engine & turret.

im using the top gun because hit power & penn, but also because it & the second one down both have poor depression so why not go with the penn & hit-power.

With so many new nations joining World of Tanks lately, we've had little time to really appreciate some of the smaller additions as of late. Today we're going to take a deep dive into the T71 American tier VII light tank, which also happens to be March's Tank of the Month. Lycan version. Experimental airborne light tank with an oscillating turret. Developed from 1952 through 1953 as a replacement for M41. The armament was deemed ineffective, and the development was discontinued. Only one wooden prototype was built. This Premium vehicle has a 25% bonus XP earn and a 20% bonus Silver earn. An AMX 13 75 can ambush a T71 with its camo and unload a clip of HE for 700 dmg in less than 5.4 sec while the T71 is still over half a second from firing its 4th shell only having done 450 damage. Those HE rounds will damage modules, kill crew and the T71 cannot reliably fire HE in return.

anyways, now that im getting to like the horribly slow thing, my question is : how does the premium 'Bulldog' Churchill 7 compare to the tech tree ?

from what i can tell its a second gun package down Churchill 7 with a slight boost to RoF & hull traverse.

it also lacks the front covers to the tracks.

so after having a good time in the Church 7, the Bulldog with its PMM & better RoF actually seems attractive. because all i could see when it first came out was '20 km/h - BORING!'

The T71 Experimental Airborne Light Tank was part of a 1952 plan by the US to replace the M41 Walker Bulldog in service. It was equipped with a primary oscillating turret. It was similar to the AMX-13 and the T92 Light Tank. By 1953, there were 3 designs that were suggested as a replacement. Those 3 designs were drawn by Detroit Arsenal, Cadillac, and Aircraft Armaments.

History[edit]

In 1952, the Army Ordnance Committee gave general required characteristics for a replacement of the M41 Walker Bulldog. Originally, there was a 20 ton maximum weight and a requirement for a 90 mm gun. This requirement was later changed to an 18-ton weight limit and a 76 millimeter gun which would have allowed a quicker replacement of the barrel.[citation needed]

Design[edit]

It had an oscillating turret and a second turret mounted on the previous turret; the first turret had the primary armament of a 76mm M1A2 or a 76mm T185; the second 'mini turret' had a secondary armament of an American GPMG. Separated suspension wheels made it easier to cross difficult terrain. It was proposed to serve as an armed reconnaissance vehicle, only aided in its endeavours by the tank's light weight and therefore faster speeds.

Main armament[edit]

The T71 had a choice between two guns, the 76mm M1A2 or a 76mm T185. Both guns used an auto-loading system, which benefit from light-weighted, low-profile, high burst damage, and fewer crew members. However, that meant that the commander and the gunner would have had to manually load the magazine after the burst, leaving the vehicle very vulnerable while reloading. The relatively small caliber of the gun also was rather ineffective against thick armor, such as the Russian heavy tank series 'IS'.
